"Missouri's colleges and universities and more importantly the students who attend them are one of our greatest strategic assets. The tragedy at Virginia Tech demonstrated the importance of higher education, law enforcement, and mental health officials working together to make our campuses the safest possible environment for our students. This task force is bringing a multidisciplinary approach to examining how we can better prepare colleges and universities to handle all potential hazards and keep students, faculty and staff out of harms way. I am committed to working with the higher education community to provide the resources necessary to achieve this goal."

Mission of the Task Force
The goal of the Campus Security Task Force is to provide the Governor with thought-provoking recommendations derived from a comprehensive study. School administrators, educators, first responders, law enforcement and security professionals comprised the governor’s task force to study campus safety to ensure we have the safest schools possible in Missouri. The Task Force will focus is to simply evaluate every aspect of campus safety to ensure a safe environment for our students.
