Compliance Monitoring
The JJDP Act of 1974 was designed to support states and communities in their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated juvenile delinquency prevention and juvenile justice intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system. The intent was, and still is, to protect public safety, hold offenders accountable, and provide treatment and rehabilitative services to best meet the needs of juveniles and their families.
To be eligible to receive funding, OJJDP requires Missouri to verify compliance with certain criteria, which includes the following:
- Deinstitutionalization of Status Offenders (DSO)
- Jail Removal
- Sight and Sound Separation
- Disproportionate Minority Contact
