Gov. Blunts’ Homeland
Security Council to Hold First Meeting
JEFFERSON CITY, August 9, 2005—Under the direction
of Mark James, Chairman of the Homeland Security Advisory Council
and Director of Public Safety, the council will hold their first meeting
at the Highway Patrol General Headquarters.
The council will begin discussion on providing an emergency
preparedness plan for the governor’s review by January 1, 2006.
The council will make recommendations for structural changes, develop
polices and procedures to implement up-to-date response capabilities
and improve the homeland security grant reimbursement process to better
unite local communities with the state as a whole.
The meeting is closed to the public under state statue
protecting sensitive homeland security information however, Director
Mark James and Homeland Security Director Michael Chapman along with
other council members will be available directly following the meeting
for a news conference at 12 p.m.
