Fennewald Speaks at Gateway
Preparedness Conference in St. Louis
JEFFERSON CITY, September 19, 2006-Homeland Security
Coordinator Paul Fennewald today discussed the critical role for public
and private partnership in emergency preparedness at a conference
in St. Louis.
“Emergency preparedness serves as a barometer
for public confidence in homeland security, as our office most closely
interacts with the public and federal, state and local officials,”
Fennewald said. “Building partnerships and communication links
with public health, public safety and local government is critical
to developing and sustaining the coordinated regional response that
will be required during a large-scale disaster event.”
Gov. Blunt has reorganized Missouri’s homeland
security efforts to implement a unified seamless approach with an
emphasis on building public and private partnerships, a regionalization
strategy to disseminate federal homeland security funds, dedicating
much- needed funds to interoperable communications and supporting
Missouri’s first Information Analysis Center.
The conference focuses on the day-to-day and emergency
communications needs facing police, fire, emergency management, education,
utilities and other public safety and health officials and includes
break sessions to facilitate active participations and brainstorming.
