Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper wins "Traffic Officer of the Year" award

Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Brock Vogt is one of four Missouri law enforcement officers named "Traffic Officer of the Year" by the Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Advisory Council.  Each year LETSAC honors officers from four categories: small departments, medium departments, large departments and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Trooper Vogt has been with the Patrol for more than two years and is currently assigned to Troop I, Zone 1, covering Phelps County.  During 2009, Trooper Vogt made a total of 1,661 arrests, issued 2,819 warnings and investigated 89 traffic crashes.  The arrests included:
·     102 DWI arrests ·     38 Felony criminal arrests ·     65 misdemeanor criminal arrests
Trooper Vogt's exemplary attributes include his devotion to duty, dependability and leadership abilities.  Trooper Vogt has represented the Missouri State Highway Patrol with distinction and honor, and his outstanding performance as a Missouri state trooper has brought credit upon himself, the MSHP and the state of Missouri.  With this distinction has come the award of Missouri State Highway Patrol LETSAC Officer of the Year.
"This is a tremendous honor for a trooper to receive, particularly after being with the Highway Patrol for less than three years," said Department of Public Safety Director John M. Britt.  "It is this kind of dedicated service that makes our roads safer.  I thank Trooper Vogt for his outstanding work serving the citizens of Missouri."
The awards were presented July 15 at Port Arrowhead in Lake Ozark.
