Comments: Deputy U.S. Marshal John Perry, 48, died from a gunshot wound while assisting the St. Louis Metropolitan Police in the arrest of a suspect. When the law enforcers converged on the suspect’s St. Louis home in a struggling neighborhood the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding Deputy U.S. Marshal John Perry with a shot to the head and wounding another marshal and a city police officer before being killed in the exchange of bullets. Perry had been a U.S. marshal for nearly 10 years
