Comments: Patrolman Evan Burns was killed after his patrol car was broadsided by a man running from a police chase. at approximately 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16. Two Caruthersville officers in separate cars attempted to deploy spike strips. The suspect struck the first Caruthersville car with an officer inside, then headed towards the other Caruthersville car, striking it broadside in the driver's side. The second impact resulted in the death of Officer Burns, 28.
